What we buy Silver Coins
What we buy
Sell Silver Coins in Chicago, IL
Whether it arrives as a coffee tin of old change or a neat row of Silver Eagle tubes, we buy silver coinage in every form. Bring it to our office south of the Loop and we do the weighing and sorting for free, with payment the same day if the number suits you.
The dividing line for American silver is 1964. Coins struck that year or earlier are 90% silver, which anchors them to the live silver price. A minority of those are worth noticeably more than their metal, and finding those is the part that requires actual attention.

What sets the price on silver coins
Run-of-the-mill 90% silver is paid as a percentage of melt, calculated from the silver actually in the coins and the price silver is trading at while you stand there. Volume improves the percentage, and we will happily walk you through the arithmetic.
Above that sit the coins collectors chase: scarce years, low-mintage issues, and anything in unusually good condition or already graded. Those come out of the bulk pile before we quote, because pricing them as ordinary silver would shortchange you.

FAQ
Sell Silver Coins in Chicago, IL: common questions
What is my pre-1964 silver actually worth?
Dimes, quarters, and halves from 1964 and earlier are 90% silver, so the floor is the silver in them times the current spot price, with extra for better years and conditions. Call 773-241-8624 for today’s rate.
Are Kennedy half dollars worth anything?
The 1964 issue is 90% silver and the 1965 through 1970 halves are 40% silver, and we buy both on their metal. Halves dated after that are face value unless they are proofs or special strikes.
How much silver do I need before it is worth bringing in?
Any amount. A single coin is fine, and so is a full bag. Larger quantities generally earn a better percentage of melt, but nothing is too small to look at.
